The full range of modern dental care for infants, children and teenagers, chosen to suit your child’s age, needs and comfort.
Why wait for pain to bring your child to the dentist? Preventive care keeps serious problems away.
First dental visit
Your child’s first visit should happen as soon as the first tooth appears, or by the first birthday at the latest. This early visit lets us screen for risks to their oral health in the growing years.
Professional cleaning (scaling)
Removes the plaque that brushing alone can’t. Regular cleaning helps prevent gum disease and cavities.
Fluoride varnish
Painted onto the teeth, it is very effective at preventing and stopping cavities. Usually applied 2–4 times a year, depending on your child’s cavity risk.
Space maintainers
When a milk tooth has to be removed early, a space maintainer holds its place so the permanent tooth can come in properly later.
Pit and fissure sealants
Protective coatings on the biting surfaces of back teeth that keep bacteria and food out of the tiny grooves, preventing cavities.
Sports guards
Recommended for children who play contact sports, to protect their teeth and gums from injury.
Gentle, conservative treatments that control decay and preserve natural tooth structure.
Silver diamine fluoride (SDF)
A clear liquid that stops cavities from progressing. It is quick and painless. It turns the decayed part of the tooth black, which can later be covered with a filling or crown.
Hall crowns
Stainless steel crowns placed directly over the tooth, sealing the decay underneath. No injection or drilling is needed.
Atraumatic restorative treatment (ART)
Selective removal of decay followed by a glass ionomer filling.
The most common dental treatment, restoring tooth structure lost to decay or a fracture. We choose the best material for your child’s needs and cooperation, from glass ionomer (GIC) to tooth-coloured composites.
When decay reaches the pulp of the tooth, children may need a root canal treatment, just like adults. After the treatment, we place a cap over the tooth to avoid extraction and keep it working until it is due to fall out.
Caps that restore a tooth’s strength and shape, most often after extensive decay, after a root canal, or when a filling between teeth won’t hold. We’ll recommend the best type for your child when planning treatment.
Stainless steel crowns
Affordable and durable; the gold standard for children’s back teeth.
Zirconia crowns
Premium, highly aesthetic tooth-coloured crowns.
Strip crowns
A tooth-coloured alternative to zirconia crowns for front teeth.
Complete care when a child injures a tooth in a fall or collision, including replanting knocked-out permanent teeth. If a permanent tooth is knocked out, keep it in milk and call us straight away.
Interceptive orthodontics
Early correction, while milk and permanent teeth are both present, of problems such as crossbite, protruding upper teeth, narrow arches, deep bite and open bite.
Habit-breaking appliances
For habits such as thumb sucking, tongue thrusting, mouth breathing and lip sucking.
Myofunctional appliances
Help the jaws and muscles develop correctly. Twin block and face mask are the most common.
Braces and aligners
Usually started at around 12–14 years. Options include metal braces, ceramic (clear) braces, and aligners, which are clear, removable, custom-made trays.
